From playhouses to Picassos,Theater, Music And Arts In And Around Paramount CA Articles there is something for every lover of the arts in and near Paramount. A day full of art viewing can begin in Paramount itself, by taking a walking tour of Paramount's Outdoor Art Museum. This is a collection of outdoor sculptures and murals that has everything from modern abstract to lifelike figures. There are over 22 different works of art spread out over Paramount’s 4.8 square mile area. Many of these sculptures are in Paramount’s beautiful city parks, which are great places to have a picnic lunch while enjoying the pieces of art.

If you’re looking for art to buy, there are lots of galleries in the Paramount area you can browse. Some of the most popular galleries include the Corcoran Fine Arts Gallery and the Souran Art  Gallery (both in Downey), the De Ru’s Fine Arts in Bellflower and the University Art Gallery in Carson. Another great place to check out art, that is not for sale, is the University Art Museum on the California State University Long Beach campus. This museum features all different types of art, from photography and oil paintings to mixed media and film. There are also occasional dance and theater performances. Admission is just $4 and children under 12 get in for free. Keep in mind when planning your trip that the museum is closed on Mondays.

For an evening of musical enjoyment, be sure to check out the Institute of Art, Music and Science in neighboring Bellflower. Located just a few minutes from Paramount on Clark Avenue, this school puts on free concerts once every other month performed by the students and faculty of the school. There are also several music competitions and recitals throughout the year and tickets for these performances are very reasonable.

The Carpenter Performing Arts center, located on the California State University, Long Beach campus, is a great place to check out stage productions, concerts, lectures and more. Previous seasons have included acts like the T.S. Monk Sextet, Lou Reed, Susan Eagan, Ballet Memphis, Jack Hannah, Ballet Maribor and many more.

Of course, Paramount’s close proximity to Hollywood means there are bound to be lots of playhouses in the area. A great place to catch a musical is the Musical Theatre West located just south of Paramount in Long Beach. Previous productions here have included Hairspray, Man of La Manchia, Spamalot and Oklahoma. Your best chance at seeing some famous actors in small stage productions is to see a show at the Orpheum Theatre located on South Broadway in Los Angeles. Actors who have performed in plays here include Tim Curry, Russell Brand, Tracey Ullman and so many more.

If traveling with children you might want to make a plan to visit the Long Beach Melodrama Theater as it was voted the #1 Family Outing attraction by the Long Beach Post newspaper. This theater can be found in the Shoreline Village in Long Beach. There is a full service snack bar here so come hungry! Another great theater to visit with children is the Berubian’s Theatre, located on North La Brea Avenue in Hollywood. This playhouse puts on several improv comedy shows as well as puppet shows and special events for adults only. For most shows, children under 12 are admitted free.

If you want to catch a flick while visiting Paramount, try the Bianchi Theaters in Paramount which has eleven theaters. Each of the theaters features stadium seating and chairs with high, rocking backs. The theater is located on Rosecrans Avenue, just northwest of Paramount Park. Another great, newly renovated movie theater is the South Gate Stadium 20, which is just a few minutes from Paramount on Garfield Avenue in South Gate. This Regal movie theater also features an IMAX theater. One last movie theater worth checking out is the Edwards Long Beach Stadium 26. Because this fairly new theater has 26 different theaters, there is sure to be a movie playing at the perfect time for you.
