Volunteer holidays are pretty much exactly what they sound like: that is to say, a period of time spent abroad where you donate your time, effort and energy towards a volunteer program. Volunteering holidays don’t have to be constant work, however, you may wish to just spend a couple of days helping out and then hit the beach, or, as the volunteer sector is increasingly seeing, you may want to make the centre of your holiday a volunteer placement and then do a little bit of rest and relaxation around that. Want to find out more or some more specific information? Read this guide and hopefully we should be able to give you a clearer picture of just what volunteer holidays involve.

Where do volunteer holidays take place?

People volunteer all over the world on a huge array of varied projects, and they have done so for years. The latest trend, however, to hit both the tourism and volunteering sector is that of volunteer holidays: people travelling abroad to combine a vacation away from daily life and the chance to help the less fortunate. They go on virtually everywhere in the world, and wherever there is a beach, a swimming pool or a town or village, you’re almost guaranteed to find a volunteer scheme you can get involved in.

How do people organise their volunteering abroad

The vast majority of people who want to try volunteering abroad will organise the entire process through a volunteer abroad agency. There are a huge number of factors at play when planning such a venture (accommodation, transport, insurance, security, food and drink, social activities, healthcare… the list goes on and on!) so going through the whole process is the safest and by far the easiest way of going about things. There are so many great companies out there who organise holiday or gap year programs for people who want to volunteer abroad for the long- or short-termHealth Fitness Articles, so take a look around and see what kind of schemes catch your eye.
