The Importance of Eating Healthy

Though it may seem simple, there are an alarming number of people that believe they can eat poorly while exercising and still lose weight.   This idea is very misguided.

This is the second in a series of articles on fast fat burning tips.  The title of this article may seem like a no brainer.  Of course you have to eat healthy in order to burn fat.  Yet it never ceases to amaze me how many people think they can lose weight by exercising regularly and still eat poorly.  In order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you take in.  When you eat unhealthy food and don't work out, you gain weight because you aren't burning enough calories to offset the unhealthy food.  To think you would lose weight in this scenario doesn't make sense.  However, thinking that you can lose weight by working out and eating poorly is just as misguided.  You do burn calories when you exercise, but it is hard to work off all the calories that you take in when you eat bad food.  If you've ever looked at the flashing numbers while running on the treadmill at the gym, you know that it is hard to burn several hundred calories, even after running for an hour.  Yet you could easily eat those 300 or 400 calories in just a cookie or too.  Looking at it this way, it is easy to see how you don't lose weight if you continue to eat poorly when you exercise.

The solution of course is to change your diet.  Now I'm not claiming that this is an easy thing to do.  On the contrary, it is extremely hard.  I would contend that food is nearly as addictive as the nicotine in a cigarette.  For those of you that don't believe me, just look at the percentage of Americans that are overweight.  People don't eat healthy because stopping yourself from eating bad food can be very difficult.  If it was easy, everyone would be eating carrots and celery and looking great.  The best thing you can do to achieve fast fat burning results is to start eliminating certain unhealthy foods from your diet one at a time.  It would be very difficult to go cold turkey, so phase out unhealthy food over time.  If you can stay disciplined and start eating healthy while exercising at the same timeArticle Search, you'll be well on your way to fast fat burning.
