The other way to get a psychic reading over the telephone is by paying for this on your credit card in advance.  There are some companies that give you the option that if within the first 5 minutes of your reading you feel you are not connected you can end the call.  Your credit card would not be charged and you could choose another psychic or go to another phone psychic reading company or individual psychic.

There are some psychics who offer psychic phone readings as a package and often this can prove to be cost effective.  They may offer a discount on your second reading if you purchase the reading as a package.  There are others who offer you the chance to introduce their services to others for a discount on your next reading.  You could also make your own suggestions to the psychic because many of them are quite flexible and open to ideas.  You may for example have a group of friends who would like to have a reading, and a group purchase for an evening of psychic readings by phone could be a great opportunity.  Many psychics offer you a free or discounted reading if you host an event like this.
