On Sunday, June 8, archeologists working in Northern England announced the unearthing of, “what may be the world’s only well-preserved Roman gladiator cemetery.” One of the most striking pieces of evidence is a bone with, “a large carnivore bite mark—probably inflicted by a lion, tiger, or bear—an injury which must have been sustained in an arena context,” says Kurt Hunter-Mann, the lead archeologist on the dig.
The many accomplishments of science are rather amazing to consider. To think that our ancestors of 2,000 years ago were fighting each other alongside large mammals for pure entertainment is a trip. As we know, the Roman Empire was not able to sustain its many excesses. Indeed, many today believe that our current way of life is unsustainable.
The current environmental movement has polarized many of the world’s peoples. Whatever your particular views, it’s clear that the amount of attention being paid to environmental concerns warrants the debate.
For those who see themselves as environmentally conscious and happen to be the business type, going green is all the rage. Incorporating eco-friendly strategies into your business can help it grow like a well cared for garden. If you are considering a green-thumb approach for your business, one of the more encompassing options is to consider metal buildings for your offices or warehouses. Commerical metal buildings:
· Require less material than traditional buildings
· Are durable with long shelf-lives as steel is 100% recyclable
· Insulate efficiently cutting energy use
Whether or not those of future generations will look back at us with approval or scorn remains a mystery. We’re no longer living in the Iron Age, but steel could very well be an eco-gladiator of our time.
