If you are in the job market, like many Americans these days, you NEED to make sure that you take all the steps and your proper due diligence in making sure that your resume and job application stands out among the rest.

You want to be sure that your resume is seen!

The best way to accomplish this is by writing an excellent, eye-catching cover letter (or CV as it is commonly referred to as) to accompany your job resume.

Simply put, you need to learn how to write a cover letter!

So, what is a cover letter?

In the simplest of terms:

It is a business letter often sent with correspondence when contacting a perspective place of employment.

It is a basic introduction of yourself, including a quick run-through of your job skills, abilities and what makes you the perfect candidate for a job opening.

They may not be required, per se, for a job, but it is standard business practice to write a cover letter when sending any sort of correspondence (hard copy or digital) to a business you are interested in working for. These days, if you don't write a great CV letter to include with your resume, you are doomed for failure-and your resume will end up in the trash!

So, is a CV letter important?

The CV letter is VERY important, and including one with your resume can be the difference between being rejected and being interviewed for the job of your dreams. It should always be able to stand alone from the resume and be a clear, concise introduction of you and your history in the field of work you are applying for.

No matter what field you are looking to work in, cover letters are and should be a standard practice. Once you learn the process, it becomes a simple step you can take to ensure your resume will be viewed by the human resources department. Without one, you're setting yourself up for failure.
