We have become accustomed to smartphones that are big in size but what some manufacturers of smart phones would like to venture into something different and into something smaller and HTC has seen the need to have a smartphone but not as big as its brothers.

The HTC Explorer is ideal for those that are just starting it out with smartphones but even if you are no longer new with Android,Be a Trailblazer with HTC Explorer: A Review Articles it would still be a nice change to have a smaller than usual smartphone in your pocket.

To have a clearer grasp on how the Explorer feels like, the outer shell is made of plastic but with a rubbery feel to it.  This external feature of the phone gives the user a rugged feel which in a way matches the name of the mobile phone.  When you look at the back of the phone, there is a brushed metal plate at the center.  The metal plate at the back also adds to the rugged feel of the mobile phone.  Unfortunately, you might probably think that the HTC Explorer is shock proof.  The answer to this question or inquiry is actually no.  It is just a design but does not function the way it looks.

The phone has rounded edges and a compact body therefore it is easy to handle and easy to hold.  This compact mobile phone operates on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread with Sense UI 3.5 on top similar to other HTC phones that are out in the market as well.

Here are some of the key features:

·         Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support

·         600MHz Snapdragon S1 MSM7227A chipset, Cortex A5 CPU, 512MB RAM, Adreno 200 GPU

·         14.4 Mbps HSDPA, 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support

·         3.2” 256k-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of HVGA resolution (320x480)

·         Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality

·         GPS with A-GPS connectivity

·         VGA Video @ 24 fps

·         3 MP fixed focus camera, geotagging, face detection

·         Standard 3.5 mm audio jack

·         microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v3.0

·         microSD slot of up to 32GB

·         Ultra fast boot times without removing batteries

·         Accelerometer, proximity sensor

·         Smart dialing

·         Stereo FM radio with RDS

·         Turn to mute, lift to tone down, pocket mode, flip for speakerphone

·         Adobe flash support

Just as there are advantages, there are also disadvantages to every product or specifically to a cell phone unit.  One of the disadvantages that you will notice when you get to buy one for yourself is the CPU.  It has a tendency to work slowly.    The camera is fixed-focus and it does not have a secondary video call camera.

Another item noteworthy to look into is the processor in which it utilizes the Snapdragon S1 platform that comes with ARMv7.  There are several applications that work on ARMv6.  Another item that you might have second thoughts goes to the 3 MP camera.  It is not exciting either but what can you expect in a phone that is right on the budget?

Cool for something as an entry level and for those that are not particular with so much features on a phone.  HTC Explorer is compact and fits just right on the palm of your hand.
