With the advancement in technology,How To Avail Government Phones Articles staying connected has become easy. People can get in touch with their family and friends. They can even communicate with their loved ones who live abroad. Work has also become easy. Even if the person is not at the office, they can still be able to do their job. Good thing the citizens of this country can now avail of free government phones.

Everybody would be happy if they could have access to the free phones. However, only selected are eligible for it. The government has issued some criteria regarding who could avail of it. For every state there are different terms. If you are participating in government programs, you will have a big chance to have your own phone. These are some of the programs:

  • Medicaid
  • National School Lunch Program
  • Supplementary Security Income
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
  • Temporary Assistance For Needy Families
  • Federal Housing
  • Food Stamps or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Another thing that could make you qualified is if your total household income is within the limit of the federal guidelines. You can try and prove your eligibility by visiting websites of the network provider that you prefer. Your zip code will be needed for this in order for you to know the requirements that you will need to submit. The documents can either be mailed or be uploaded. The following are some of the documents that you have to prepare:

  • Statement of benefits from the Social Security
  • Current income statement issued by your employer
  • Child Support Award
  • If previously married, present the divorce decree
  • No work? You need to present unemployment compensation or if you are retired, it will be your retirement pension
  • Federal notice letter that will prove that you are part of the government assisted programs.

Not everybody in the household can have their own line. According to the rule, only one phone can be given to each qualified household. This doesn’t mean per family. This is as long as you live in one home either with your friends or with anyone who shares rent with you. It is also part of the terms that household should only receive one benefit per provider. If ever they will not abide with this, their benefits will be revoked.

One of the important things that you have to remember is that the plan that you will avail is non-transferable. You cannot just give it to anyone. Since your name is on the plan service, you are the only one who can benefit from it. If you decide to move to another address, you have to notify your provider. This should be done within the month of your move.

If the service is unused for 60 days, it will be subjected to 30 day probationary period. You will have to inform your provider about your decision whether to continue with the services or not. If you will fail to contact them, expect that it will be cut-off.
