The HTC Desire is amongst the most successful Android smartphones, and it is easy to see why it has proven so popular.

Both vibration and ringing are utilised to alert users to incoming calls and messages, with the added bonus of supporting MP3 ringtones, allowing users to customise the sound of the phone.  A simple to use speakerphone system is included along with a 3.5 mm audio jack which allows handsfree communication to be carried out with ease.

 

Along with the internal memory, there is a microSD card slot which comes with a 4 GB memory card included as standard.  This should prove ample for the needs of most users as it can store a large amount of files, be they music tracks, videos or photos etc.  Should further storage be required, this can be replaced with a memory card of up to 32 GB, which means users can potentially store a large digital music collection.

 

The HTC Desire is also an extremely effective and powerful camera phone.  Located on the back of the handset, the 5 mega pixel camera operates at 2592x 1944 pixels and boasts Autofocus and LED flash.  To keep track of where photos are taken, it also has geo-tagging which functions thanks to GPS.  The camera can also shoot video in WVGA quality; however users can download the latest version of the Android operating system which will enable them to shoot HD footage in 720p quality.

 

A superb web browsing experience is assured by the HTC Desire.  This is thanks to the initial connection which relies on 3G coverage to provide an HSDPA connection which offers download speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.  The faster Internet connection can be achieved however thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity which utilises local wireless internet routers. Part of the HTC Sense package means text on websites is automatically repositioned when zoomed in, so users don’t need to scroll sideways to read a whole web page.
