HTC has recently released both the Desire Z and the Desire HD. The latter boasts a large 4.3 inch touchscreen, 8 megapixel digital camera, super fast internet browsing and a wealth of multimedia features.

Measuring 123x 68x 11.8 mm in order to accommodate the large touch screen, it is a rather slimline handset which is also lightweight at a pocket friendly 164 grams. The S-LCD capacitive touchscreen is ideal for viewing photos and videos thanks to its large size of 4.3 inches and the ability to display up to 16M colours within the 480x 800 pixel resolution. Accelerometer and proximity sensors are built into the handset and there is a touch sensitive control panel offering shortcuts four user interface navigation.

 

The highly customisable HTC Sense user interface allows users to assign up to seven homescreens by configuring different widgets and applications along with themes and colour schemes.  By pinching the screen, a thumbnail overview of these can be viewed with the desired one selected simply by pinching the thumbnail on the screen.

 

1.5 GB of internal storage allows users to store files such as music tracks and video clips.  In order to gain additional storage, has a built in microSD card slot which can be utilised simply by installing a memory card of up to 32 GB.  This offers the potential to store an entire digital music collection or a large number of videos etc.

 

Cellular networks are connected to thanks to class 32 versions of both GPRS and EDGE whilst access the Internet relies primarily on 3G coverage whereby an HSDPA connection provides speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps along with HSUPA at 5.76 Mbps.  In order to gain a faster Internet connection, local Wireless Networks can be utilised thanks to full Wi-Fi connectivity.  The package of connectivity features is rounded off by Bluetooth, micro USB and GPS with A-GPS support.

 

The HTC Desire HD it has an extremely impressive 8 megapixel built in which results in superb quality still images which even retain their high levels of detail and clarity when zoomed in thanks to the high pixel count and the pixel resolution of 3264x 2448.  Autofocus, face detection and a dual-LED flash are all included to simplify the task of taking pictures while simultaneously improving the quality.  The ability to shoot HD video is also included as standard thanks to 720p video camera technology.
