The LG KU990 Viewty is offering some breakthrough technology that even carries with it a first in camera phone history.  This little beauty offers one of the best deals available to convergent technology buyers and we’ll be telling you some of the reasons here why we think so.

For starters – let’s talk about that first in camera phone history – this camera phone offers manually controllable focus!  Until the release of this phone, auto focus was the only option available for users of any camera phone.  Unfortunately, what that meant for some shots is that the one object you were trying to take a picture of may not be in focus in the camera.  At that point your only option would have been to try and take the picture from a different angle and eliminate the object the camera phone kept trying to focus on instead.  Thanks to the KU990 that’s a thing of the past.  You can still use autofocus if – and when – that works best for you, and with this phone you will still always have the option of switching to manual, instead.  As camera buffs ourselves, we’re always excited to see a big step forward in the camera capabilities of mobile phones and this could well prove to be quite a valuable one.

The camera phone also includes the SmartLight technology which is one of the best.  We found in our low lighting tests that the SmartLight was able to take pictures without the flash that almost literally turned night into day.  Very impressive!  We’ve found throughout both our testing and our personal use of digital camera technology that relying solely on flash for low light conditions requires a compromise, at best.

You’ll still have some tried and true features available to you such as image stabilization, 16x digital zoom, up to 5 megapixel resolution and VGA and QVGA video capabilities with integrated videophone features.

One of our favorite features of this phone is the extent that it integrates handwriting recognition and editing.  A picture can be worth a thousand words and even during testing we found that the ability to quickly draw and send diagrams was invaluable.  The three inch touch screen was lovely to use and sensitive to the touch.

The phone itself is slim and should fit easily into most pockets.  Weighing in at a slender  112g, this lightweight phone should be a welcome relief for some users.  This phone actually felt a bit too lightweight for our taste.  For someone who tends to be overly busy and preoccupied at times, a slightly heavier phone would be a bit less likely to be forgotten and left behind.

On the plus side, we did really like having a range of colors to pick from for this model and the colors available will be a big factor for some phone.  It’s a strong camera phone and is consistently well reviewed.  OverallFree Web Content, we can happily recommend this phone and it should prove to be a good value for the money.
