Samsung Galaxy S Given a Price & Release Date
The newest Samsung phone to feature a 'Super' AMOLED display has now been allocated a release date and price, the Samsung Galaxy S which is also known as the Samsung i9000 also packs in a 1GHz processor and HD video recording capabilities.
Powering the new Samsung i9000 Galaxy S is a whopping 1GHz processor, this same chip is found in a number of new top-end models including the HTC Desire, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, Samsung Wave and Google Nexus One, it provides fast operation, application load times and deals with multiple tasks quickly and effectively.
The Samsung Galaxy S offers a large 4 inch touch screen which features the new Super AMOLED technology found in th Samsung Wave, this produces outstandingly bright colours with a crisp picture quality which can even be viewed in bright sunlight.
Other features include a 5.0 mega pixel canera with autofocus and features such as panoramic shot, stop motion and cartoon shot function, the camera can also record 720p HD quality video clips, this same technology is turning up in other new handsets including the new Nokia N8, HTC Desire, Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Samsung Wave.
There is also 3.5G support for fast internet surfing, WiFi, GPS with digital compass, HSDPA for quick file download speeds and a comprehensive multimedia player supporting a whole host of different formats with a 3.5mm audio jack allowing you to listen to your favourite music via your own standard pair of headphones.
Running on the latest Android 2.1 operating system means there are multiple home screen to personalise and access to the Android Market where you can download a choice of 30,000+ new applications and games, also included is support for social networking websites with built-in widgets, Google Maps, Google Mail support and a whole host of Android supplied applications.
This latest Samsung Galaxy phone will be available as a SIM Free phone from June 1st, it will be available unlocked to all network operators allowing you to choose either a pay as you go or contract SIM card on the network of your choice. The initial retail price of the SIM Free Samsung Galaxy S i9000 will be £549.99 but this is sure to drop as other retailers offer the phone and competition sets in.
