The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc is soon to hit stores and looks set to prove a success based on both its spec list and stunning design.

It is also very lightweight at just 117 g whilst measuring 125 mm tall and 63 mm wide.  The 4.2 inch touchscreen is highly advanced and comes with an impressive spec list in its own right.  LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen utilises a pixel layout of 480x 854 to display up to 16 million individual colours unrivalled clarity and quality of the on screen imagery.  This is enhanced further by the Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine, which utilises the manufacturer’s expertise in the television manufacturing business.  Multi-touch input is supported, and the handset comes built-in proximity and accelerometer sensors as standard.

 

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc offers 512 MB RAM as standard, and this is supplemented with an integrated microSD card which comes with a pre-installed 8 GB memory card.  The latter is likely to prove ample for the needs of most users and is capable of storing numerous music tracks, video clips, documents or any other files the user may feel the need to keep them all times.  On the rare occasion that further storage should be required, it can be replaced with a memory card of up to 32 GB, significantly increasing the potential storage space.

 

Internet browsing is an important aspect of any Smartphone, and it is an area where the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc really delivers.  3G coverage provides the initial means of connecting to the Internet via its super fast HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.  As an added bonus, whenever users have access to local Wireless Networks, they can enjoy a faster browsing experience thanks to full Wi-Fi connectivity.  DLNA is another included feature which allows users to stream multimedia to a compatible television, meaning they can enjoy their photos and videos taken with the phone’s camera on the big screen.  Both GPRS and EDGE are provided to keep the handset connected to cellular networks, whilst package of connectivity features is finished off with both Bluetooth and micro USB connections which allow the handset to be connected to compatible hardware devices.

 

One of the major selling points of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc is its impressive 8 mega pixel digital camera.  Thanks to its high pixel resolution, and features such as Autofocus, touch focus, face & smile detection and LED flash, the resulting still images are of very high quality, whilst the task of taking them is significantly simplified.  As you may expect from a camera and indeed a Smartphone of this calibre, it boasts the ability to shoot video footage as an alternative method of image capture, and this is in no less than 720p high definition.

 

The latest version of Google’s Android software (2.3 Gingerbread) is the operating system of choice and this works alongside the widely used Qualcomm Snapdragon processor to provide a lightning fast user interface, whilst backing up powerful applications with the power they need to run efficiently. Android Market also allows users to download additional apps, of which there are thousands to choose from, within numerous categories.
