Sony Ericsson is due to release a new handset in the very near future. The XPERIA X8 provides an ideal option for those looking for a budget Smartphone which does not compromise and features and versatility.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 measures 99x 54x 15 mm and weighs in at a lightweight 104 g making it a pocket friendly handset which is also comfortable to hold and use on the move.  In order to navigate the Timescape UI, a 3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen is utilised which has a pixel setup 320x 480 which can display up to 16M colours.  The screen features an accelerometer sensor which automatically rotates the onscreen content based on the angle at which the phones is held, meaning that photos and videos can be enjoyed in full screen.

 

The handset allows users to carry out handsfree communication thanks to a built in speakerphone system and a 3.5 mm audio jack which can accommodate both handsfree headsets and earphones for listening to music via the versatile internal media player.  Vibration and ringing alert users to incoming calls and messages and there is the added bonus of being able to assign MP3 music files as ringtones.

 

128 MB of internal storage is provided as standard; however there is also a microSD card slot which comes with a pre-installed 2 GB memory card.  Should further storage be required, this can be removed and replaced with a card of up to 16 GB, which is ample for storing an entire digital music collection or a large number of videos etc.

 

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 is great for browsing the web on the move.  Thanks to an HSDPA connection, in areas with 3G coverage provides users with access to the Internet, however a faster connection can be achieved thanks to built in Wi-Fi connectivity which takes advantage of local wireless networks where available.

 

A handy 3.15 mega pixel digital camera is built into the handset, this utilises a pixel resolution of 2048x 1536 to provide still images are of superb quality.  Geo-tagging is a feature which is also included and functions thanks to GPS, and automatically tags the location at which a photo was taken.  The camera can also shoot video footage, and this is in VGA quality at 30 frames per second.

 

The renowned Android operating system is utilised, in this case version 1.6.  In conjunction with a 600 MHZ processor, it provides an ideal platform for using demanding applications, which can be downloaded from Android Market.

 

The availability of a number of different colour variants means the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 also appeals to the style conscious crowd who also view their phone as a fashion statement.  This is a handset which ticks all the boxes in terms of functionality and style, and puts true smartphone technology within the reach of the masses.
