The handset measures up at 119.5x 63x 11.2mm, whilst weighing in at a mere 140 grams. Multimedia such as photos and video can be enjoyed in stunning quality on the 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, which boasts the ability to display up to 16M colours within its pixel resolution of 480x 800. Accelerometer and proximity sensors are included along with features such as multi-touch input method and the Acer Touch 3D UI (v4.0).

Users of the Acer Stream are alerted to incoming calls and messages courtesy of vibration and ringing with the included option of assigning both MP3 and WAV music files as ringtones. A speakerphone system is provided along with a 3.5mm headset jack to carry out handsfree calls on the move.

A generous 2GB of storage allows users to store their favourite music tracks and videos, however further storage can be attained. This is thanks to a micro SD card slot which can take a memory card with a capacity of up to 32GB; however it is worth mentioning that there is an 8 GB card already installed, so in many cases, there should be sufficient storage for most users right out of the box.

Class 10 GPRS and class 10 EDGE allow the handset to connect to the appropriate cellular networks, whilst access to the internet relies primarily on 3G coverage, whereby an HSDPA connection provides speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. A faster internet connection can easily be achieved thanks to Wi-Fi. In layman’s terms, whenever the phone is in proximity to a wireless internet router, it is possible to achieve an enhanced browsing experience. The package of connectivity options is rounded off with Bluetooth and micro USB connections, both of which allow the handset to connect to other devices in order to carry out a range of different tasks.

A useful 5 megapixel camera is also provided with the Acer Stream. This does a great job of taking both still images and recording video. Still images are high quality thanks to the high pixel resolution of the camera, and there are a number of built in features included such as autofocus and image stabilisation. The camera has the ability to shoot 720p (HD) video footage, so you can capture the moment and relive it in perfect detail and clarity, even on an HD TV thanks to the micro HDMI port.

In conjunction with a 1GHz processor, the Android OS provides a perfect user experience thanks to its versatility and ease of use. Whatever you are looking for in a smartphone, the Acer Stream is an ideal option. Offering loads of the features you would find on the mainstream smartphone brands, it is a perfect alternative, and a real head turner thanks to its sleek appearance.
