Boasting and light weight of just 118 g,The Galaxy S By Samsung Is An Aesthetically Pleasing Handset Articles the Samsung Galaxy S is a pocket friendly handset especially when combined with its slimline profile at just 9.9 mm.  Given the size of its touch screen, it was never going to be the smallest handset available.  However, some users are sure to see this as a bonus.

Boasting the ability to display up to 16M colours within a pixel layout of 480x 800 pixels, the 4 inch super AMOLED had capacitive touchscreen is one of the most impressive features of this handset.  Not only does it offer superb levels of quality and clarity of the on screen content, it offers a dynamic and interactive method of navigating the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.  The screen features an accelerometer sensor for auto rotation of the on screen content which allows users to view it in both portrait and landscape forms dependent upon the orientation of the phone.  This makes it perfect for viewing video files and photos.

The combination of ringing and vibration alerts users to incoming calls and messages.  The ability to utilise MP3 and WAV music files as ringtones offers users the opportunity to customise their handset so they can hear the song of their choice whenever the phone rings.  For handsfree communication, both a speakerphone system and a 3.5 mm audio Jack are included.  The latter accommodates hands free headsets as well as earphones for listening to music via the internal media player.

Either 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage is provided as standard dependent upon the model, alongside a 512 MB RAM.  In the unlikely scenario that further storage be required, a micro SD card slot can be utilised which can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB.  The useful internal phonebook is included as standard which can store a seemingly endless number of contacts and also features the ever popular Photocall function which allows users to assign a photo to a particular contact within the phonebook, and this is in turn displayed on screen whenever that person is in contact.

In order to provide the Samsung Galaxy S with optimum levels of connectivity, a number of methods are utilised.  The primary means of connecting to cellular networks is courtesy of class 12 versions of both EDGE and GPRS. 3G coverage provides access to the Internet via an HSDPA connection which is available at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second alongside HSUPA at 5.76 mega bytes per second.  Users can also enjoying a faster Internet connection thanks to integrated Wi-Fi Technology which picks up on their signals provided by wireless Internet routers.

High quality still images and even high definition video footage can be shot using the integrated 5 mega pixel digital camera.  The still images are of extremely high quality thanks to the high pixel resolution of the camera.  The task of taking great photos is greatly simplified thanks to the inclusion of image enhancing features such as touch focus, face & smile detection and Autofocus.

Arguably the most impressive and certainly the most technologically advanced handset to date from Samsung, the i9000 Galaxy S is sure to give certain competitors a run for their money.
