HTC has slowly become one of the most recognizable smart phone creators in the cell phone industry. They are known for creating products that are both affordable and durable. Each of their phones has the most up to date technology and gives users a wide range of features that will keep them happy. Two of the best phones that HTC has released are the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Desire S. While their names are very similar,The HTC Desire In Comparison To The HTC Desire S Articles users will find that they are two completely different phones and people will use them for completely different reasons.

The most noticeable difference between the two phones is the physical characteristics and specs. The first characteristic difference between the two phones is the screen and weight of the phone. The Desire HD weighs only 164 grams and has a screen size of 4.3 inches. The resolution of the Desire HD is 480 by 800 pixels which make it a good screen for watching movies and online videos. The Desire S weighs only 130 grams and has a screen size of 3.7 inches with the same resolution. While the screen size may be smaller on the Desire S, the resolution is slightly better. Overall, the screens of both phones are great, but the slight screen size difference makes the Desire HD the better phone for watching movies.

The next difference that the phones have is the camera quality. The Desire HD has a significant advantage in camera quality. The Desire HD has an 8 megapixel camera that has dual LED flash and records video in 720p. The Desire S has a 5 megapixel camera and has flash. The 5 megapixel camera is sufficient for taking pictures of just about anything but the Desire HDs ability for 720p video recording gives it the advantage over the Desire S.

The processing speed of both phones is the same but the internal memory and RAM is different. The  Desire HD has 1.5 GB of internal storage and has 768MB of RAM. While the Desire S lists no internal memory, it has 512MB of ROM and has 576MB of RAM and is has a microSD port. While both phones have similar RAM, the Desire HD is much better because of the 1.5GB internal memory and the slight increase in RAM. Both phones will operate at similar speeds but depending on an app, the Desire HD may be able to handle it better.

Both the HTC Desire HD and Desire S have the Android Operating System and HTC Sense. The Desire HD has the newest Android 2.2 Os while the Desire S has Android 2.1 installed. Both phones have access to the same applications in the Android Marketplace and both can run the apps at similar speeds. Because of the slight increase in RAM, camera quality and internal memory, the Desire HD is better suited for users that like watching movies on their phone and watch internet videos. Both phones are great to own and no matter the phone a person chooses, they both will function great.
