The HTC Desire is a true success story for the manufacturer. This popular handset has recently been made available in a sophisticated black colour variant. It boasts all the features of the original model such as an impressive touch screen, five mega pixel digital camera and Wi-Fi Internet access and is operated by the renowned Android OS (v2.1).

The five mega pixel digital camera utilises a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels resulting in high quality still images.  The task of taking quality photos is made simple thanks to the inclusion of Autofocus and smile detection as well as an LED flash so low lighting conditions are no problem.  The popular geo-tagging facility is also included which automatically of course a location at which a photo was taken thanks to GPS.  The camera can also shoot video in WVGA quality at a rate of 15 frames per second resulting in video footage which is of a similarly high quality to that of still images.

Internal memory within the HTC Desire Black is 576 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM.  A 4 GB memory card is pre-installed within the micro SD slot offering ample storage for a large number of files.  Further storage can be attained though by swapping of the memory card for a larger one of up to 32 GB.  The internal phonebook is a seemingly bottomless and can store a huge number of contacts.  It also includes the popular Photocall feature which allows a photo to be assigned to each contact within the phonebook and this is in turn displayed on screen whenever that person calls.

 

Several different connectivity methods are utilised by the handset in order to provide it with optimum levels of connectivity dependent upon network coverage and location.  In order to connect to cellular networks both EDGE & GPRS are provided in class 10 versions.  Access to the Internet is available at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second thanks to an HSDPA connection in areas covered by 3G.  In order to attain a faster Internet connection, Wi-Fi Technology is included which senses signals provided by wireless Internet routers and takes advantage of these to provide a faster connection and therefore an enhanced browsing experience.

 

Thanks to its incredible range of features coupled with the stunning new black colour variants, the HTC Desire looks set to build upon its already selling reputation.
