The internal phonebook is capable of storing a large number of entries and has the handy and popular photocall feature.

As the name would suggest, the HTC HD Mini is a compact handset. Its dimensions are 103x57.7x11.7mm and it only weighs 110 grams. Its slim line profile and light weight make it a pocket friendly mobile phone which is also comfortable to hold and use on the move.

Vibration and ringing are the alert types available with the HTC HD Mini. However, users can customise their phone by utilising MP3 and WAV music files as ringtones. By doing this, they will then hear the song of their choosing every time the phone rings. In order to talk hands free, both a speakerphone system and a 3.5mm audio jack are installed.

Despite being a compact handset, the HTC manages to accommodate a built in digital camera offering 5 mega pixels. This operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. Image enhancing features such as autofocus are installed as standard, so the task of taking good quality snapshots is made relatively simple. Video can also be shot with this camera, offering an alternative means of image capture. This is in VGA quality at a rate of 25 frames per second.

The TFT capacitive touch screen measures 3.2 inches and as well as providing the means to navigate the Microsoft Windows Mobile user interface, it is capable of displaying up to 65K colours within a pixel setup of 320x480, so the display of on screen content is very high. An accelerometer sensor is installed as standard, so the image on screen will automatically rotate based on the orientation of the phone. This allows it to be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

The internal media player supports all the major formats of video and music files, whilst a stereo FM radio player and a selection of pre-installed games are also provided to keep users entertained for hours on end. Social networkers are well catered for with applications allowing direct access to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

As one would expect, a range of methods are utilised to keep the handset connected to both cellular networks and the internet.   Class 10 versions of both GPRS & EDGE keep the phone connected to cellular networks in all but the most remote locations. In areas covered by 3G, HSDPA provides an internet connection at speeds of 7.2 mega bytes per second (along with HSUPA at 2 mega bytes per second). Wi-Fi kicks in whenever a signal from a wireless internet router is detected, providing a faster internet connection.

The appeal of the HTC HD Mini is provided on many fronts, from its compact size, to its impressive hardware and software.
