HTC have recently released their latest Smartphone, the Legend. One of only a few handsets equipped with Android v2.1 (Éclair), it has an impressive list of specifications including touch screen technology, super fast internet access and a great digital camera.

The AMOLED capacitive touchscreen measures 3.2 inches. It offers excellent display quality thanks to a pixel set up of 30x480 which displays up to 16 million colours. An optical trackpad offers an alternative method of navigating the menus within the user interface. The Legend measures 112x56.3x11.5mm and is crafted from a single piece of brushed aluminium. The size allows room for the generously sized screen, and its slimline profile makes it comfortable to hold and a pleasure to use.

The HTC Legend relies on 3G coverage for its primary method of connecting to the internet. When available, this is via a 7.2 Megabyte per second HSDPA connection, along with HSUPA at 2 Mbps. Wi-Fi connectivity is also included, which takes advantage of the signal provided by wireless internet routers. This allows a faster and therefore enhanced web browsing experience. In order to connect to cellular networks, class 10 EDGE and GPRS are provided. Additional connectivity features include Bluetooth and micro USB (v2.0).

The everyday functionality of the handset is certainly impressive thanks to its list of features and applications. A versatile media player supports an array of video and music file formats while a stereo FM radio player and range of games add to the entertainment options.  Popular sites such as Google and YouTube can be directly accessed thanks to dedicated applications.

The popular photocall feature is included in the comprehensive internal phonebook. This can store a practically unlimited number of both entries and fields.  Internal memory is in the form of 384MB RAM and 512MB ROM. If further storage is requires, for example to store a large number of music tracks, then the micro SD slot can be utilised. This can be achieved simply by installing a memory card of up 32 GB in the SD slot.

Thanks to the ability to assign MP3 and WAV music files as ringtones, users have the chance to customise their handset to some extent. Obviously vibration is an additional alert type to alert users to incoming calls and messages. A 3.5mm audio jack and a speakerphone system allow hands free communication.

As with any Smartphone, a digital camera is installed in the HTC Legend. It boasts 5 megapixels (pixel resolution of 2592x1944) so high quality images can be taken. Geo-tagging, autofocus and LED flash are some of the included features in the camera. An alternative method of image capture is in the form of the ability to shoot video.

The great range of everyday functionality combined with the impressive aesthetics are sure to make the HTC Legend a successful handset, especially with many users getting bored of more established Smartphone brands.
