The HTC Wildfire has proven to be an extremely popular handset since its release in May 2010.

 It offers fantastic functionality as well as superb aesthetics at a price that may surprise many people. It provides a wealth of features and puts smartphone technology within the reach of the masses.

 

The HTC Wildfire measures up at 106.8x 60.4x 12 mm and weighs in at an extremely pocket friendly 118 g.  It comes with a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which offers a pixel count of 240x 320 in which up to 16,000,000 individual colours can be displayed.  This results in fantastic display quality of the on screen imagery making it the perfect device for viewing photos and videos.  The screen comes with accelerometer and proximity sensors as standard as well as multi-touch input which allows features such as pinch to zoom.  An optical trackpad is also included which allows users to navigate the HTC Sense UI using a single thumb.

The HTC Wildfire has several different connectivity options.  Class 10 versions of both EDGE and GPRS keep the handset connected to the appropriate cellular networks at all times whilst Internet connectivity relies primarily on 3G coverage whereby an HSDPA connection provides download speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second.  An even faster Internet browsing experience can be achieved thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity which allows users to take advantage of local wireless networks.  Bluetooth and micro USB connections are also on hand to connect the handset to compatible hardware devices both wirelessly and directly respectively.  GPS with A-GPS support allows features such as a digital compass and geo-tagging to operate.

 

The HTC Wildfire comes with a 5 mega pixel digital camera which does a great job of snapping high quality still images.  The resulting pictures are of high quality thanks to the pixel resolution of 2592x 1944, which included features such as autofocus and an LED flash.  Geo-tagging is provided to keep track of where the camera was used whilst users also have the added bonus of being able to shoot video footage using the camera.

 

Android 2.1 (Eclair) is the operating system of choice; however this can be upgraded to later versions whenever they are released.  This works alongside 528 MHz processor to provide a fast user interface and the power to run demanding applications. The HTC Wildfire comes with an application list which includes social networking integration along with several different multimedia and productivity tools.  Users can access the Android Market in order to browse thousands of different apps from numerous different categories which can be downloaded either free or for a small fee attending on the application.

 

The HTC Wildfire is supremely functional yet does not sacrifice its aesthetic style.  It is available in several different colour options and makes a great choice for those on a budget but do not want to sacrifice features.
