The LG Pop Is A Compact Touchscreen Mobile

LG claim that their GD510 Pop handset is the most compact 3 inch touch screen handset available. Given the size of the LG KP500 Cookie, this is certainly an impressive achievement. Its compact size does not mean a lack of functionality though.

The LG Pop measures 97.8x49.5x11.2mm and weighs in at just 87 grams. Its light weight and slim profile make this a comfortable handset to hold and therefore a pleasure to use on the go. The screen takes up the majority of the front of the handset extending all the way to the edges. It is available in Silver, Black and Pink, offering colour variants to suit most tastes.

A 3.15 mega pixel camera (2048x1536 pixel resolution) provides a means to take decent quality snapshots. It also has the ability to shoot video in QVGA quality at a frame rate of 15 per second.

The LG Pop connects to cellular networks and internet via class 12 versions of GPRS and EDGE. Bluetooth version 2.1 is provided, allowing users to transfer files and data with friends provided they have a compatible handset and are in the same vicinity. Micro USB allows several tasks to be carried out by connecting the handset to a computer.

Vibration and MP3 ringtones alert users to incoming text and MMS messages as well as voice calls. By utilising MP3 files as ringtones, users have the chance to customise their handset and therefore hear their favourite song every time the phone rings. In order to talk handsfree, a speakerphone system is provided.

As mentioned, navigation is through the use of a touchscreen. This is a TFT resistive screen which measures 3 inches and utilises a pixel layout of 240x400 to display up to 256,000 colours offering great quality display of on screen content.

A great range of features gives the LG Pop a great level of everyday functionality. A versatile media player supports a plethora of music and video file formats, whilst a range of pre-installed games and a radio player add to the entertainment features. Facebook, Twitter and MySpace integration is sure to impress fans of social networking. An organiser, T9 text input and voice memo recorder add to the versatility of the phone. An interesting addition is a solar panel for charging the phone simply by exposing it top sunlight.  

A large number of contacts can be stored in the internal phonebook, and this includes the popular and useful Photocall feature. To store data such as video clips or music tracks, 42 MB of internal storage is provided; however a micro SD slot can accommodate a memory card of up to 16 GB for this purpose.

Its aesthetically pleasing design combined with its impressive list of specifications mean the LG GD510 Pop is sure to remain a popular handset.
