The Nokia N8 measures 113.5x 59.1x 12.9mm, making it a compact device, which is also a comfortable phone to hold and use thanks to its lightweight of 135 grams. The AMOLED capacitive touchscreen measures 3.5 inches, and utilises a pixel resolution of 360x 640 to display up to 16M colours. This makes the Nokia N8 perfect for viewing video and photos, especially given the fact that it also includes an accelerometer sensor which allows the on screen content to be viewed in both portrait and landscape. Another important and often overlooked feature is the Gorilla scratch resistant glass, which protects the screen from everyday wear.

A generous 16 GB of internal storage is provided as standard which allows ample storage space for digital files such as music, videos and documents. Should further storage be required, the micro SD card slot can be utilised by installing a memory card of up to 32 GB.

Class 33 GPRS and EDGE provide the Nokia N8 with its cellular network connections whilst access to the internet is provided via HSDPA in areas covered by 3G and Wi-Fi wherever local wireless networks are available. In order to connect to other compatible hardware devices, the Nokia N8 also comes with Bluetooth and micro USB connections. These features allow users to carry out tasks such as transferring music files and backing up contact info.

As mentioned, the Nokia N8 also has a stunning 12 megapixel digital camera. This is jam-packed with features such as Carl Zeiss optics (a premium quality camera lens manufacturer), autofocus and Xenon flash, and the ability to shoot 720p HD video footage. Users can attach an HDMI cable to the TV-out and connect the handset to a HD television allowing them to view the HD footage they have shot on the camera, but on the big screen.

The Symbian 3 OS works in conjunction with a powerful 680 MHz processor to provide a powerful platform for expansion and customisation.

Of course there are also a wealth of entertainment and productivity features included, making the Nokia N8 highly versatile, and an ideal alternative to mainstream smartphones.
