The handset measures 74.3x 66.4x 16.9 mm and weighs in at a lightweight 129 g.  It is a very pocket friendly handset and thanks to its compact dimensions is comfortable to hold and use and easily transported in a pocket or handbag.  The 2.36 inch TFT screen is able to display up to 256K colours within its pixel layout of 320x 240 which results in good quality display of the on screen imagery with vivid rendering of colours.  An accelerometer sensor is included which automatically rotates the contents of the screen based upon the orientation which the phone is held, and as mentioned there is a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for efficient text entry making it an ideal handset for those who send a lot of text messages or emails.

The Nokia X5 relies on several different methods to provide it with optimum levels of connectivity.  Class 32 GPRS and class 32 EDGE keep the handset connected to the appropriate cellular networks at all times.  An HSDPA connection is called upon to provide the initial means of Internet access in areas where 3G coverage is available.  An enhanced browsing experience can be achieved though, thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity.  As standard, micro USB and Bluetooth connections are also included which allow users to connect the phone to compatible hardware devices such as computers and other phones.

One of the highlights of the Nokia X5 is the 5 mega pixel digital camera.  This boasts a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 resulting in high quality still imagery, and comes with an LED flash which overcomes the obstacle of low lighting conditions.  As an added bonus, users can also shoot video footage in VGA quality at 15 frames per second.

The Nokia X5 is available in several different colour formats, making this a head turning device.  It is a great choice for those who also view their phone as a fashion statement, but don’t want to sacrifice the functionality of the phone to achieve this.
