Samsung has just released its first Smartphone to run the new Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system. With a huge 4 inch screen, digital camera and fast web browsing, the Samsung Omnia 7 ticks all the boxes in terms of functionality and also boasts aesthetic appeal meaning it’s the complete package.

The handset itself measures 122.4x 64.2x 11 mm,The Samsung Omnia 7 - A Great Ambassador For The New Windows Phone 7 OS Articles so it is certainly slimline and lightweight at just 138.2 g.  One of the most impressive features of the handset and certainly the most striking is the quality of the screen’s display.  With super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen technology, it provides vivid and detailed rendering of up to 16 million colours within the confines of its pixel layout of 480x 800.  The screen measures 4 inches which makes it great for viewing videos or playing games as well as for viewing photos or browsing the Internet.

 

The Samsung Omnia 7 allows users to assign MP3 file of their choice as a ring tone, which works alongside the standard vibration function to alert users to incoming calls, messages and emails etc.  In order to carry out handsfree conversations, there is built in speakerphone system as well as a 3.5 millimetre audio jack.

 

The there is a generous level of internal storage available with either 16 or 8 GB at the users disposal, depending on which model is purchased.  This gives the opportunity to store thousands of files of many different formats, and essentially eliminates the need for further Storage devices such as a microSD slot.  Therefore, users are able to keep their entire digital music collection or photo albums for example, right on their phone to be accessed at their convenience.

 

GPRS & EDGE both allow the handset to stay connected to be correct mobile operator’s networks.  In areas offering 3G coverage, an HSDPA connection provides Internet browsing speeds of 7.2 mega bytes per second.  If users have access to local wireless networks, they can take advantage of the phones built in Wi-Fi connectivity, and gain an even faster and more efficient Internet connection.  Additional connectivity features include Bluetooth and micro USB, both of which allow various tasks to be carried out by connecting to other compatible devices.

 

The Samsung Omnia 7 comes equipped with a great 5 mega pixel camera which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 resulting in superb quality still images.  Its built in features include Autofocus, image stabilisation and an LED flash meaning low lighting conditions are no obstacle, whilst geo-tagging is included so users can keep track of where they took their photos.  Video can also be shot using this camera, and this is in high definition at 720p (25 frames per second).

 

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 is the operating system of choice and provides a superb user experience in conjunction with a powerful 1 GHz processor.  The standard features are certainly comprehensive, and include a versatile media player, radio player, a selection of games and social networking integration along with productivity features such as a Microsoft Office document viewer/editor and Bing search.

 

The Samsung Omnia 7 has something different from the mainstream Smartphone market which is dominated by only a handful of models.  With its large advanced screen, and superb everyday functionality, this looks like the Smartphone that many people have been waiting for.
