Sony Ericsson has been busy recently, releasing a number of new handsets. Amongst them is the Spiro, a stylish slider handset with the manufacturer’s renowned Walkman technology. Additional features include a built in digital camera and social networking integration.

The handset measures 92x 48x 16.8 mm and weighs in at just 90 g.  Its compact dimensions along with its lightweight make the Spiro a comfortable phone to hold and use whilst remaining pocket friendly.  The handset is available in a number of colour variants including contrast black,The Sony Ericsson Spiro Is An Impressive Music Phone Articles sunset pink, spring green stealth black.  This sense appeal to the handset amongst style conscious users who also view their phone as a fashion statement.

 

The 2.2 inch TFT screen utilises a pixel layout of 240x 320 pixels to display up to 256K colours, providing good levels of clarity and detail of on screen images.  Vibration and ringing alert users to incoming calls and text messages.  MP3 music files can be assigned as ringtones offering users the chance to customise their phone so they can hear the song of their choice any time the phone rings.  Both a speakerphone system and a 3.5 mm audio Jack are provided, offering options for handsfree communication.

 

Up to 2000 entries can be stored within the Spiro’s internal phonebook, which also includes the Photocall feature.  This allows a photo to be assigned to each contact in the phonebook and is then displayed on screen any time a certain contact is on the phone.  Internal memory is 5 MB as standard along with a micro SD slot which can accommodate a memory card of up to 16 GB.  This allows ample storage for a good number of files such as music tracks and video clips. 

 

Class 10 versions of both EDGE and GPRS are utilised to provide the handset with its primary methods of connecting to cellular networks as well as the Internet.  Bluetooth v2 .1 allows the Spiro to connect with the compatible handsets in the same vicinity in order to carry out tasks such as sharing media files or contact information.  A micro USB connection means the Spiro can be directly connected to a computer in order to carry out various functions such as backing up contact us from the phonebook and the transfer of media files.

 

The Sony Ericsson Spiro is equipped with a two mega pixel digital camera.  This operates at a pixel resolution of 1600x 1200 pixels, resulting in decent quality still images.  The camera also has the ability to shoot video, offering an alternative method of image capture.

 

As mentioned, Sony Ericsson have utilised their impressive Walkman Technology to provide an impressive MP3 player.  Social networkers are certainly well catered for with the inclusion of Facebook and Twitter applications so users can share their thoughts with friends and family no matter where they are.

 

Whilst the Sony Ericsson Spiro may not offer Smartphone Technology or touch screen navigation, it makes no false promises and simply offers fairly simple functionality within a stylish slider a handset.
