Is IT Support Something I Need?

     Has there ever been a time when your computer system has been down during the busiest peak of the day for you?  Should you consider having an IT Support Team to support my software issues as well as hardware?  Will the choice effect my business?  Here is a sample situation, and ways that it should be handled properly.

     In a fast paced business environment, companies rely heavily on their computer systems to provide critical and timely information.  Results that might be the stem of using powerful and effectual software packages  When something happens to that software package, and you find that it's not performing the way it should be, you're going to need to call IT support in order to get your problem resolved.  Some of the software packages you could be using would be for example Sage, which is a software package that is Ideal for small to medium businesses that require tight control over their finances.  Another package might be a software package such as Microsoft’s Customer Relationship Management Software, or maybe Microsoft’s Dynamics NAV software which is a comprehensive business management software package. No matter what the choices are, the day is still going to come where you will need professional IT support.  This is the time you will have wished you had good IT Support Leads.  No one really plans the need for IT Support, until that urgent and crucial instance, usually with the most unfortunate timing.  Time is of essence, and you need to get your questions and problems answered promptly so that you can get back to business.  Some software IT support services require you to spend hours just getting in touch with the one person that can actually help you out.  You also don't want to be passed along from support person to support person for different issues.  I'm sure you've heard of those situations before.

     Wouldn't it make more sense to have a service that will not only take care of your computer issues, but also the software related issues?  Why not have a committed team, highly knowledgeable and able to get your system up and running again as quick as possible?  This would be my decision if I was in need of someone to support highly sophisticated software packages as described above.

     When the disaster happens, you want someone that is just a phone call away.  You want a company with a reputation of helping their clients rest easy to know that their computer issues are supported.  Your IT support leads should bring you to a support group that makes a living supporting their clients needs.  Having a friendly person as one of your support specialists makes a big difference as well.  You won't want to talk to someone that pushes a whole bunch of computer techie words on you that have no meaning to you what so ever.  Computer jargon is hard to understand if you're not familiar with all the technical issues involved.  Having someone talk to you in a way you can understand will get the best results.

     Honesty is also a big issue when looking for a good IT support team.  The last thing you need right now is a promise that someone will call you back as soon as possible.  You also don't want a support team that pays their technicians by the amount of calls they can do each day.  You don't want someone that is just trying to get their daily quota of service calls done.  You need a company with a proven track record of being dependant, consistent, and trustworthy.  You want someone that has the same desire of fixing your issues, or finding the right solution.  You would also want someone you would readily refer to someone else that is in need of the same services.  These are the things you should consider when making the decision to hire an IT support team to take care of your software package support needs in your business.
