Virtually every computer
user knows what is Total Commander, WinRAR or IrfanView. Many of us
use them every day and most of the users of these programs is
convinced that it is doing so legally.
If you ask the average
computer user, whether he has bought a license for these programs,
certainly you will hear the answer: "Are you crazy? Why to buy a
license for free software? "
Unfortunately, this is
reality. Few of us know that the shareware programs it is not the
same as freeware software.
Therefore, what is difference
between these types of software?
Freeware is a free
software without disclosing the source code. The name comes from the
English words: FREE + softWARE. Freeware programs can
be distributed free of charge, provided the inclusion of information
about the author and checked that it is a free software (freeware).
Distributors and owners of websites can not charge a fee for this
software.
Shareware, however, is a software that
allows free use for a trial period (usually 1 month), to encourage
users to purchase software. During the probationary period, the
functionality of the program may (but need not) be limited. After
this period, the program may cease to function, or limit the
functionality is still available to operate without any restrictions.
The use shareware program after expiration of the probationary
period without registering it, or removing a meter of the
probationary period is forbidden and punishable.
Remember
therefore what is the difference between these types of software.
Currently there are many on-line stores and portals where you can
register and buy the shareware license.
