This traditional attire has become popular all over the sub continent and with each passing day the attraction to the dress increases even in the most basic sense.

The ability of this outfit to blend elegance and style with comfort is the best thing about it. No wonder it has become a staple of every Indian woman’s wardrobe.

As with all things, salwar kameezes too have evolved with time. The popularity of this dress has not only spread across the country, but even the west has adopted it. The humble salwar kameez has been modified in styles and fabrics to suit modern sensibilities and cater to a large variety of crowd.

Description of Salwar Kameez:

A traditional salwar kameez set comprises of a tunic top known as a kameez, a pair of trousers called salwar, which is fastened used a drawstring at the waist and a stole called a duppatta, chudhni or odhni.

Churidar kameez Suit

The churidar kameez suit is very popular right now. It is a modernized variation of the traditional salwar kameez, making it a favorite of the ladies. The basics of the dress is similar to any salwar kameez set, but a churidar kameez is fitted and accentuates the figure. The pajama is long in length and buttons at the cuffs. Once worn, the pajama ends in bangle like rings at the ankle. The structure of this style makes it look good on tall and slim women.

Designer salwar kameez set

Modern women are more creative about their outfits. They are not satisfied with factory generated designs that have similar looks. Each woman has her own opinion regarding design, fit, neckline, sleeves etc and wants her clothes to be a reflection of her tastes. In order to create their own style statement, a lot of women get clothes specially designed according to their specifications. Such clothes are called designer salwar kameez suits. Designer suits are the epitome of high fashion nowadays.

Patiala salwar kameez

The patiala salwar suit is another popular variation of the salwar kameez. The cut is again very different from the traditional style, nevertheless it looks elegant and can be worn by anyone. A patiala has a billowing salwar with numerous pleats. It is loose and often embroidered at the ankle. The kameez in a patiala suit is fitted and ends at mid thigh level or above the knee.

Parallel salwar kameez suit

Parallel salwar kameezes are the most westernized versions of the Bridal salwar kameez. The three piece outfit has a style similar to a pant suit. The kameez length is short and extends till the knee or ends at mid thigh. The Embroidered Salwar has a straight fit which starts at the hips and extends till the heel. The salwar may have slightly flared ends or maybe boot cut, depending on individual choice.
