Up until recently, it was just assumed for most high school students that they were going to go on to college promptly after high school. Even those students who didn't know what they wanted to become or what career path to take just simply packed their college must haves and headed off to school in order to find themselves. In generations past most students didn't even have to worry about the cost of college because Mommy and Daddy were taking care of the tuition.
Nowadays things are a lot more strained financially and students as a whole need to weigh their career paths with the amount of money that they will need to borrow as a way to put that degree in their hands. Depending on what school they are planning on attending and what degree they plan to realize it may or may not be worth it for them to pursue that particular career.

Some people who have entered their chosen profession by taking out extensive student loans have figured out the hard way that not every college degree does pay off. One specific career path that is leaving many in the field high and dry is in the airline industry where many people cannot make ends meet and have not been able to pay back the loans they owe for their education.
Even the individuals in more advantageous positions with titles such as doctor or lawyer have found that it takes them many years in order to pay off their student loans because of the substantial amount of education that these career paths require. All in all picking the right career path requires not only careful examination of those jobs in the current economy that can make you some pretty good money but also evaluating whether or not you can have enough salary in your first few years out of school to pay off your student loans in a timely manner, have enough money to live on, and get started to get a return on your investment. After all, if you have to stay indebted to the Federal government for years and years, then you may wish to reconsider your career path.
