Computer and the Art

Many people ask whether it is convenient to create a portrait for an art piece using the computer technology. The role of computers in almost every sphere of life is becoming more and more important. Spalter in her book ‘The Computer in the Visual Arts’ points out that development in computer graphics are running ahead faster than any one person's ability to describe or even to know the big picture. The rapid development of graphic technology, its refinement, its variety, its complexity, its omnipresence, and its total acceptance amaze me. Our civilization is thoroughly mathematized and is becoming more so with every day that passes.

Doing this is quite difficult with real paints, but it is one of the inherent benefits of the computer canvas. Besides, the computer is a powerful tool in improving the artist’s productivity. It makes him use his imagination more effectively, provide new forms of expression. The new computer technologies give an artist more time for finding creative ideas, rather than ‘repetitive tasks which can easily handled by a computer.
