The Common Proficiency Test (CPT) or Foundation Exam is the entry level of the Chartered Accountant course. The examination is conducted twice is a year,Steps To Be Followed For CA CPT Registration Articles i.e., in June and December. Candidates who are planning to appear for the December 2016 attempt must register themselves in the month of October 2016. Aspirants can register themselves for CPT exam by submitting the online / offline application form in proper manner. There are certain steps to be followed by candidates for CA CPT Registration which are mentioned below-

 

  1. First of all, only those candidates who have passed Class 10th are eligible to get registered but they are not allowed to appear for the examination unless and until they have appeared for their Class 12th examination. For the purpose of registration, they must visit the link of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (http://online.icai.org/cptform.html) or obtain the application form from any of the Branches / Regional Offices of the Institute.

 

  1. After obtaining the application form (whether online or offline) aspirants are required to fill their name (as per SSC certificates), Gender, Date of Birth, Contact Details, Email ID, Category, Nationality, Medium of Study, Details of Educational Qualification, Annual Income of Parents, and other important details in the space provided for the same.

 

  1. After filling required details candidates must select the proper payment gateway for paying the CA CPT Registration fee. Total amount payable for Indian nationals is Rs.6,600/- (Rs.6,000/- as registration fee, Rs.500/- as examination fee and Rs.100/- for CPT Prospectus). Payment of subscription fee for Students' and Members' Journal, of Rs.200/- and Rs.400/- respectively, is optional.

 

  1. Payment of the fee can be made either using online payment mode like Credit Card / Debit Card

or through Demand Draft favouring  “The Secretary, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, payable at respective Regional Office i.e. Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur or New Delhi”. Candidates paying the registration fee through Demand Draft must enclose it along with the registration form at the time of submission.

 

  1. On successful filling of online application form, applicants need to attach certain documents along with CPC (Common Proficiency Course) registration application namely, attested photocopies of proof of nationality (for foreigner students), Date of birth & Class 10th mark sheet and proof of special category certificate.

 

  1. Candidates can either submit their application forms online or can submit it at the concerned Branches or Regional Offices of the ICAI.

 

 

Minimum Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Class 10th or Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) examination to be eligible for CA CPT Registration. However, in order to be eligible to appear for the Foundation examination they need to have passed or appeared for Class 12th or Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination conducted by a recognised Board of Education.

 

Exemption from appearing for Foundation Exam

Candidates who have obtained Graduation / Post Graduation degree in Commerce with aggregate 55% marks from a renowned or an Open University are exempted from appearing for CPT examination. These candidates eligible to start their practical training after attending the Orientation Course and Information Technology Training.

 

Expiry and Revalidation of Registration

It is important to note that CPC or CPT registration is valid for a period of 3 years. Candidates can revalidate their registration by paying a sum of Rs.300/- before the initial registration gets expired. On making payment of the requisite fee the registration will be revalidated for further period of 3 years.
