Although Mount Pleasant, SC is known for its new construction homes, the majority of these options tend to be single family or detached houses.  New town homes can be harder to find in the local market, so I have included below neighborhoods with some of the most current listings for town homes for sale.

If you’re looking for town homes that are either proposed construction (meaning that they haven’t been started yet) or that are currently under construction, there are four main communities in Mount Pleasant.  The Retreat at Charleston National is one of the few neighborhoods where you can find town homes on the golf course.  Most of these units have a two car garage on the ground floor with most of the living space and bedrooms located on the second and third floors. 

Park West has two subsections with new construction town homes right now.  The majority of these are two story and have a one car garage, although you find some exception in Preston.  The Kingsbridge subsection tends to be less expensive because it does not offer brick exteriors (just cement plank siding).  Overall, Park West is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant for regime fees because of the sheer size of it.  Because the community can spread out its expenses among several hundred homes, they’re able to keep the annual costs down for each home owner.

The Heritage at Dunes West is known for its colorful cement plank exteriors and upgrades.  The Heritage is not located within the gates of Dunes West, but residents can pay a regime fee to use the amenities that are located within the gated part of the community.  Dunes West is one of the nicest and most sought after neighborhoods in Mount Pleasant, and it boasts some of the most impressive amenities in the entire Charleston area.

One Hamlin Place is the newest town home section of Hamlin Plantation (another highly sought after neighborhood in Mount Pleasant with full amenities).  These new construction town homes are the nicest you’ll find in Mount Pleasant, with optional elevators, site-finished hardwood floors, and gourmet kitchens showcasing top of the line appliances.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in these four developments, you may want to also consider some of the relatively new town house communities that are already finished.  In other words, these sections were built after the year 2000, so they have the open floor plans and updated kitchens and baths that you expect with new construction (but they are pre-owned).  Another benefit of looking at pre-owned town homes is that they are move in ready.  Some of the favorites among buyers tend to be Marais at Seaside Farms, Waverly at Hamlin Plantation, Madison at Hamlin Plantation, The Gates at Park West, Kensington at Park West, Cambridge Townhomes at Park West, and Egrets Walk at Dunes West.
