This is a tough one for many people. Staying fit through the winter is very important. Most people tend to slack off in the winter months. It gets darker at night earlier and people don't want to leave their house. You need to keep the workouts going through out the winter. If you have a tough time getting to the gym. You may want to try exercising at home if the weather is bad. Set some small goals for yourself to help get going.

Staying fit through the summer also helps the individual stay fit in the winter. I find keeping fit in the summer easier because I'm more motivated to workout. People tend to wear less clothes in the summer, so body image is more important. If the person keeps his workout routine the same in the winter as the summer. That person has a better chance to stay fit all year. Start to set your goals right after summer, before you start to lose interest around the winter months.

Start working on a fitness plan to help you get through the tough winter months. I like to workout at home when the weather is bad. It could be anything from walking on a treadmill to weightlifting at home. Doing something is better than nothing at all. Start now to take a look at your fitness plan. It's never to soon to start thinking about the rough weather ahead.

If you are considering working out at home. Here are some simple exercises you can do without having to buy equipment. Push-ups, sit-ups, dips and aerobics can be done at home with no cost to you. There are so many exercises you can do home. There really is no excuse not to stay in shape all year.

Please make sure you take the time to warm the body up properly. Warming up the body will allow the person to have a good workout, and an injury free fitness routine.

Step #6

In order to stay in shape the individual must set short and long-term goals. That's the only way the person is going to stay motivated through the year. It's to easy to get distracted if you don't have certain goals that must be achieved to stay in shape.

The five steps I outlined, if followed correctly will keep you in shape. No matter what the distractions come your way, you will have the willpower to succeed.
