Taking a closer look at the Ultimate level of the P90X2 extreme workout program.
The P90X2 extreme workout program is a decidedly different animal from P90X in too many ways to count.
I have spent a great deal of space on my blog and in published articles over the last few months fleshing out the reasons for why P90X2 isn’t making the huge waves and getting the incomparable word of mouth of the original. What I have concluded is that the name P90X2 is probably deceptive. When we think something is a sequel we think it will contain a lot of the elements we liked in the original.
While the P90X2 extreme workout program you have some of the essential elements that were important in P90X. The biggest one undoubtedly is that Tony Horton is back. He was the driving force behind P90X and he designed the P90X2 extreme workout program to be a continuation in your fitness journey. What you have to keep in mind is that when you are trying to get fit, the concept of confusing the body is vitally important.
As great as it was, P90X was not the end all of getting fit. It used very common exercises like push-ups, pull-ups and weight work to get you very fit. You have a foundation of fitness that probably no other workout for the home has ever effectively provided. The P90X2 extreme workout programkeeps us all wondering about what we are doing but in reality it is little more than another stage in the fitness journey that P90X lacked.
In conjunction with this theme, one major difference is that P90X2 goes for your total body fitness in so many ways that it has three levels of achievement rather than just one. Each level brings with it new requirements, new challenges and new more intense results. We talked before about the Base program. This is level 1 and costs about the same as standard P90X. This is where I tell everyone to start. The next level is called Deluxe and it tacks on two workouts that weren’t in base and also the 55 cm balance ball, two 8lb medicine balls, and a foam roller to aid your body in getting the max benefits from the PAP principles which drive the program.
The Ultimate is level three and comes with the rumble roller which takes the foam roller concept and it’s benefits to the next level. You also get the Tony Horton Power Stands. If you get into this program at all, you will undoubtedly get to this level. Try Base and then when you complete the program and see how it boosts performance and how you look, you’ll likely get the full package.
