Big brands and even bigger names will convene this Saturday and Sunday at the Capella

South East Asia’s largest and most premier whisky and spirits show is in a week. With hundreds of brands and industry giants expected to be in attendance,5 Highlights of Whisky Live 2016 Articles here are the highlights of the star-studded guest list.

  1. Dave Broom

A four time winner of the Glenfiddich award for his writing, Broom is credited with drawing whisky enthusiasts in with his extensive knowledge on whiskies and spirits as well as his light-hearted approach to understanding them. Author of the “World Atlas of Whisky” and “Whisky: The Manual”, Broom is a leading authority when it comes to knowledge the spirits industry. At Whisky Live 2016, Dave will be hosting a comparative tasting masterclass on the rare 1965 Sherry and Bourbon casks, opened in commemoration of La Maison du Whisky’s 10th Anniversary.

  1. Matthew Fergusson-Stewart

The regional brand ambassador for celebrated Scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich Fergusson-Stewart recently placed Singapore on the world map of whisky by winning the title of ‘Scotch Whisky Brand Ambassador of the Year’ at Whisky Magazine’s esteemed Icons of Whisky 2017 Awards.  He will be in attendance at Whisky Live 2016, where he will be conducting tasting sessions at the Glenfiddich booth.

  1. La Maison Du Whisky’s Tenth Anniversary

Whisky Magazine’s 2017 Multiple Outlet Retailer of the Year, La Maison du Whisky will be celebrating their tenth year on Singapore’s shores at Whisky Live this year. To commemorate this special occasion, two extremely rare bottlings of 1965 Karuizawa – Sherry and Bourbon Casks – will be opened at the event. There will be 160 limited edition bottlings featured at Whisky Live 2016 as well, including cask-strength Old Pulteney at the VIP room, being shown for the first time in Asia.

  1. Luca Gargano

Gargano is a rum legend, and largely regarded as the reason exceptional spirits were introduced to the Italian market.  Owner of fine Rum brand Velier, which has exclusive bottlings from Haiti and Trinidad, Gargano will return to Whisky Live for his second year in 2016, where he and Dave Broom will be hosting a masterclass on Pure single rums on Sunday (November 12).  

  1. Rogerio Igarashi Vaz

Vaz is a Brazilian Master mixologist who will be making his debut in Singapore at Whisky Live 2016. He is the chief bartender of Bar Tram and Bar Trench in Japan, chosen as one of the World’s Best Bars by World’s 50 Best Bars in 2014. He will be recreating Bar Trench at exclusively at Whisky Live 2016 and guests will be able to sample the latest cocktail trends from Japan as well as Vaz’s own creations.
