Jin Jun Mei (Beautiful Golden Eyebrow in Mandarin) is a famous Chinese Black tea known for its deep auburn golden hue and delicate slender leaves, like a beautiful women’s eyebrow. It is one of the most beloved Chinese teas, grown and produced in Fujian province.

How is Jin Jun Mei (a Chinese Tea) Made?

 

Picking: The best time to pick Golden Eybrow buds is in spring. When the buds have reached a certain length and tenderness can they be picked.

Fermentation: This is a key process in creating the colour and flavour of Red teas. The buds are left to ferment indoors at at temperature of around 20-25 degrees.

Drying: From the fermentation process there is around 50-60% of water in the buds. Therefore the buds need to be dried at a high temperature to reach the adequate dryness.

The Side Effects of Jin Jun Mei Black Tea?


Golden Eyebrow works great with aiding digestion and freshens the skin, strengthening the immune system and calming the nerves. It has a diuretic effect, relaxes muscles or spasms, contains polyphenols and tannins that have an anti-bacterial effect, has anti-inflammatory properties, and acts as a good detoxifying agent.

When is the Best Time to Drink it?


1. Suitable for brewing in a Gaiwan, flask or an earthenware teapot.
2. Firstly warm the teaware by rinsing it with hot water.
3. Add 5-7 grams of tea leaves per 100-120 ml of water.
4. Pour the tea leaves over with hot water water 80 - 85 degrees. This temperature can be achieved by simply opening the lid and waiting 20 seconds. The first steep can be made after 15-20 seconds.
5. The brew from the first steep should be poured out as it is designed to rinse the leaves and reduce astringency.
6. The second steep can be made after a few seconds to around 20 seconds, depending on one's taste. (The shorter the brewing time, the more steeps the tea can endure). This tea can be brewed up to 7-10 times.
