My favorite sandwich place in all of Westchester County, NY is a place called MELT on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. I cannot get enough of these sandwiches. It was so good last time I ate there that I was inspired to tell you about it. Enjoy.
This isn't something I usually do. Being the owner of Niko’s Greek Taverna in White Plains, I am rarely ever inspired enough to write about another eatery, especially in the same city!
Today, my wife had a craving for a sandwich from Melt on Mamaroneck Avenue in the White Plains so I told her to call order and I would pick it up.
I drove home, which took approximately 30 minutes, and totally devoured the sandwich. It was so good that I am now inspired to tell you a little bit about this place.
I have probably eaten at MELT about 20 to 25 times now since they opened less than a year ago. I have probably gone to MELT 20 to 25 times since they first opened, not even a year ago. I am cool with the owner but, since I don't know his name, I call him "Chef".He is a top notch sandwich engineer.
I have frequented delis and restaurants since I was a child. My family has a history running delis, including the Purchase Deli run by my in-laws and two delis in Connecticut owned and managed by my Aunt. Even so, no one makes a sandwich like my friend Chef. That guy is an awesome "chef".
I'm going to tell you why these sandwiches are the best. I put sauces such as ketchup, mustard, BBQ, Tabasco, mayo and steack sauce on everything I eat. Oh, and it's a big insult to Stacey when dip something that she cooked into a condiment -it really irritates her.
Anyways, the sandwiches. They are my all time favorite food, just like Joey from Friends. MELT has a simple, step-by-step order taking procedure. You pick your meat, all of which are smoked on site. Next, you chose a sauce and topping combination from Chef. The final choice you'll need to make is what kind of bread you want on your sandwich.
I typically get the Brown Sugar Rubbed Brisket with BLT topping on a wedge; it's a more recent menu addition. It is soooo good! My brother would call it a classic "fat boy." There is finely chopped real bacon added directly into the mayonnaise. . It also comes with chopped iceberg lettuce, sliced cucumbers, and tomatoes. I get hungry just thinking about it!
The Turkey Melt Mac is my wife, Stacy's, favorite sandwich. It has the Chef's own version of McDonald's special sauce. My wife, who can be a very picky eater, can't get enough of this sandwich. A couple times every month, she simply has to have one.
So, see my homie Chef; let him know that Niko gave you the recommendation. You won't be disappointed, I swear. I have probably turned 10 new people in to regulars at that place. It's beyond my control, though. When I find something to be delicious, I pass the word on to everybody I see.
