Impotency-An Overview

Impotency is a usual problem among men and may be characterized as a consistent inability to maintain or sustain sufficient erection for sexual intercourse or an inability to achieve ejaculation. Impotency may vary from man to man.

In other words, a total inability to get erection or ejaculation, an inconsistent competence to do so and a tendency to maintain erection for less time may be defined as an impotency.

Impotency's risk is high with the age. According to a research study, it is high in men with age of 60 years in comparison of men with age of 40 years. It is also said that the men with less education experience more of impotency. There are numerous reasons behind it such as having less healthy lifestyle, taking less healthy diet, doing less exercise. Listed below are the causes of impotency which incorporates.

The causes of impotency in men with age-group wise can be classified into three categories which are as follows.

  1. Young Age Men: Anxiety is one of the most usual causes of impotency for young age men. It may include the concerns about someone getting pregnant, not wanting to show inexperienced and worrying about loss of erection while putting a condom on the penis. 
  1. Middle Aged Men: Reasons behind impotency for middle aged men may incorporate stress, guilt, and having sex with a new partner. 
  1. Old Age Men: Even though, analysis shows that 65%-70% men over age of 70 years are sexually active but the impotency's risk is high with the age as you get older. This may be associated to the malfunctioning of the blood vessels that carry blood to the penis, and also linked to the malfunctioning of heart or brain arteries. Both, men and women may have issues that have an impact on their sex lives such as one may have loss of libido or been unable to sustain an erection, premature ejaculation problem etc. There are numerous reasons that men may experience sexual problems. 

If you have problem in maintaining an erection or feeling hard to ejaculate then it’s a situation of feeling embarrassment. But you are not alone who feels this problem, there are many men having the same problem and the research shows that two and half million men have some sort of sexual dysfunction at any one time.   • Depression and tiredness
  • Restlessness
  • Guilty feeling regarding sexual performance
