Hold for a Few Moments

Remove the Profile Lock

If the error is still persisting with your browser, even after rebooting your PC and following everything above, there is the possibility of your browser profile is ‘locked.’  Sometimes, Firefox might have omitted behind the lock file while it quit abnormally or crashed. You can clear such lock file on your own; just make sure that browser is not running, otherwise, it may corrupt your profile.

  1. At first, open up your browser profile folder. Hit the Windows Key+R simultaneously, copy and paste the %appdata%MozillaFirefoxProfiles line into the box and hit Enter.
  2. Hit on the profile folder ending in .default, twice. The profile includes a random prefix name on each PC, but it ends in .default always.
  3. Search the parent. Lock file and remove it. Now, you can run your browser properly. If you are having Mac OS, then remove the .parent lock file located in your profile directory. For Linux users, remove the .parent lock files.
