Once Ashwathama, the son of Dronacharya, was yearning for milk from his mother Kripi. But, eventually, he did not get the milk. So, he started worshipping Lord Shiva, standing on one leg. Milk started dripping from the cave due to the grace of Lord Shiva. It started the perennial dripping of milk on the Shivling. After the Dwapar Yug was over, Kalyug arrived, and the same milk turned into water drops. Dripping of water is an interesting phenomenon for the visitors. The water disappears underground. Tapkeshwar name is derived from this natural phenomenon.

Timings

Tapkeshwar Temple stays open from 9 am to 1 pm and again from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Devotees need not pay any entry fee at the temple.
