Most folks considering their own websites are focused on one thing,Content-Rich Websites... Why & How Articles making money. And while that's certainly the most common reason for creating an online presence limiting your efforts to what turns out to be no more than a hardcore sales pitch in virtual space might be feeding your dreams more than the bank account you're wanting to grow!

SALES REQUIRES TRAFFIC

We'd all agree you can't sell anything from a site without traffic. Yet, there are many out there who would launch a costly website with no idea of how to generate traffic to that site. Like anywhere else, the internet can offer untold traffic and exposure... if visitors can find you.

Some "webtrepreneurs," and most businesses have a decent budget to plunk into advertising so, in a sense, can simply "buy" their traffic. But what about the rest of us for whom the web is a last bastion of hope to launch a source of supplementary income to replenish our already overdrawn checking accounts? Understanding and using the internet's primary search engines, Like Google, are your best bet for generating traffic to your site.

The formula is simple. Get the search engines to notice your site and visitors will start showing up. But how to get the search engines to notice your site is the problem.

CONTENT GENERATES TRAFFIC

If necessity is the mother of invention, then those of us who have more time than money to spend on our internet business venture will find that developing content-rich sites will result in our sites being listed in the search engine results... the closer to the top of the list the better. But this will require getting to know all you can about keywords and keyword placement in your site, a skill in itself that all of us need to keep refining!

SEARCH ENGINES AND PEOPLE LOVE CONTENT

The quality of your website content will not only help you get noticed by the search engines but will also result in a pleasant experience for your visitors, many of whom are likely to bookmark your page or link back to your page in any of a number of ways such as blogs, forums, resource links, etc. The bottom line is a cumulative effect of search engines and people all recognizing the great information contained in your site, a formula that will help your site grow in its rankings over time.

So as you ponder how to optimize your website to increase traffic, consider the biggest resource of all... the content that you share through your pages - an asset that will be noticed by the search engines while giving something of value to your visitors who'll be more likely to have interest in whatever product or service you might have to offer.
