Picking a domain name is important for your brand and your online business.  As you know,Domain Name: Does Your Domain Name Meet Human and SEO Criteria? Articles you have the option to satisfy human criteria or SEO criteria, but in my opinion you can not have one without the other.  I will explain why.

Human Criteria
As you know that you want your domain short and memorable, misspell proof, plus it must be higher level such as dot com, dot net, and not org.  Some people would pick a domain name that brands their business, for example, Amazon.com.  It has nothing to do with the Amazon river at all.

Branding your domain name takes a lot of effort to establish your reputation and hard work to build it from ground up.  It takes a lot of time and investment to do that.
For the online business, picking a domain name this way would not be a good idea.  It is like you do not know what people want, but you already have the supply in the warehouse.

SEO Criteria
I would suggest you go further one more step by doing a keyword research to come up which keywords that people are searching for in your particular niche.  After that you pick domain name accordingly.  However, if the domain that you want is not available, you may have to add a modifier to your keyword.  For example, your domain is Seikowristwatch.com, but it is not available.  So you have to add a modifier such as best.  Then you have bestseikowristwatch.com.

Doing this way your domain name would meet the human and SEO criteria.  It is short and memorable.  On top of that, you can get organic targeted traffic easily.  Similarly, you know what the people want and what you have to do is bring them to those people.  You know the demand and it is easy for you to bring supply to meet the demand.  It is easier than you have a supply, but there is no demand.  Do you get it?

I hope by now you have some ideas on how to pick a good domain that satisfy not only the human criteria, but also SEO criteria.
