Search Engine Optimization Ways to Get Free Traffic

Submitting directly to search engines is not necessary as I have experienced. All you need to do is to build sufficient number of backlinks so that when the search engines see the links, they will automatically include your site in their list.

1. Submit to dmoz.org

a good idea is to add your site to dmoz.org. domoz.org is an open directory project. This directory is popular and is helpful to get listed in the search engines and increasing your rank also. When the search engines find your site link in this directory, it will add it automatically.

2. Build External links

This is the most things you can do. Build as much backlinks as you can. This will give your site more visibly and higher ranking for the search engines. Even if the links will not bring direct traffic to your site, they will attract the search engines to your site and will lead to higher ranking in the long term which results in more traffic to your site. Backlinks is the core of search engine optimization.

3. Avoid bad backlinks 

sometimes, you will want to swap your site link with another site. But remember that the site you want to put your link at may be irrelevant to your site and the content is totally different. This can lead to penalization for your site when the search engines see that. For example, if you put a link on adult web site, the search engines may think your site has adult content and drop your ranking. Be careful when building backlinks. 

4. Getting links by different ways:

As mentioned above, the external links is the key to search engine optimization because they are considered as votes to your site. They can be more valued if they originate from a top ranked web site such as yahoo and msn. One way to obtain a link back to your site is to contact a web master and ask him to swap link with him. Get listed also in the search engines will be a good way for others to know web site and can link to it by themselves if the content is good and has good design. Web directories also are a way to let others know about your web site although search engines today replaced them.



5. Don’t use duplicate content:

Be careful of using content on your site that is copied from another website. Search engine don’t like content that is duplicated. Therefore, if the crawler found content that existed before, it will not index it. This is because duplicate content annoy the users if they found too much similar results. The best option when getting content is to write it yourself. If you cannot write, you can take articles from the top article directories that allow this and put links below the article that are similar in the subject. Generally, keep the page rich content because search engines love content and this will allow the search engines to index the page even if some content is duplicated.
