What exactly is dysfunction? It is a word society, although probably overused,How Much Dysfunction Should You Allow Into Your Life? Articles labels most anythingand everything. However, its true attribute can becharacterized as a negative that is mostly hurtful andcounterproductive. A parent who consistently talks down to their childrenin the attempts of suppressing their self esteemwould be a perfect citing of dysfunction. It is quite obvious that none of us can escapedysfunction. Television and media cater to anextremely dysfunctional character trait that I believeis learned, not necessarily inherited. The you angleis portrayed as subtle, but quite effective. When the media designs a mass advertisingcampaign, they brainstorm the best way to approachany perspective consumer in a targeteddemographic. The you angle feeds a person’s senseof “what’s in it for me and how can I benefit”? Thismindset, I feel, carries over into all phases of one’slife creating an environment of constantly covetingself fulfillment. So with this said, how does one break this powerfulmold the media injects daily onto you? First, recognition of what is right and wrong is a goodplace to start because the all-encompassing mediadoes not care about the average person, they simplycare about selling products, magazines, newspapers, and the like. This is much like recognizing youropponent’s weaknesses by studying them before youengage them in whatever competition; a person mustunderstand this insurgent aspect of the media. The media is just one example of dysfunction, butthere are literally hundreds of examples one couldconjure up, and it would take an entire book to listand explain each one of them. Initially, if a person has the ability to recognize ordetect dysfunction, then it would be logical that thisperson has the capability to halt its progression intotheir lives. However, if a person is so accustomed tothis way of life, it is seemingly second nature. In this instance, logical thinking must be implementedin order to understand that aspects of dysfunction areinfiltrating now, and have in the past. Well, youmight think one person’s trash could be consideredanother’s treasure, so how would a certain aspect ofone’s life be blanketed as dysfunctional?Logic! If a person enables dysfunctional behavior, then thepeople they enable will eventually catch on to thisand know that you will always permit it, so the cyclecontinues.Using your God-given logic will always assist you indiagnosing a scenario that is littered withdysfunction, or one that has the potential to bring itinto your life. If you are a person who thinks more with their heartthan their head, this needs to change immediately! Many of the times we are hurt by thinking with ourheart, and in turn the consequences can be quitecostly. Taking control of how much negative comes into yourlife is the basis for this article. I want the reader tounderstand that they do have power to not only makechanges, however painful they might be, but dam upthe flow that a river of illogic and dysfunction causes.By recognizing dysfunction, you limit its growth at itsroot and logically understand its negativecharacteristics. This gives you more than enoughammunition to stave off its constant barrage. So startto control the damage dysfunction brings today ratherthan settling for a more inferior quality of life. --by Brian Maloney-ValuePrep.comWant to improve your personal values?Get high-quality-relationship advice for guys and women from a 'Logical' standpoint.
