It is up to us what we "paint" on this canvas of the year 2008. A lot of people create New Year's Resolutions after a few sips of champagne and declare to friends and family what they'd like to accomplish in the year ahead.

The ritual of creating resolutions can actually be a very, very powerful thing to do. But, unfortunately, New Years Resolutions get a bad rap every year. For as many resolutions that are made, most of them are broken or forgotten within a few weeks after the year begins. The reason? We create resolutions we can't achieve and actually booby trap our success. Yikes!

May I share a secret that could turn this around for you? I want you to achieve your goals and dreams. The secret to making a resolution so it "sticks" is precisely related to HOW you say it and how you FEEL about it!

Here's a few common New Year's Resolutions:

"My business is booming"

"I'm in perfect health"

"I'm at my ideal weight"

"I earn over 100,000.00"

What happens after you declare these desirable goals? Your mind immediately notices what you just said and you find yourself saying to yourself... This isn't true. I'm not in perfect health, or I'm not at my ideal weight, or I'm not rich. Guess what? We can't achieve what we don't believe!

You can stop "booby" trapping yourself by making this simple tweak to your resolutions. Declare what you can believe! Here's a sampling of how these resolutions are more effective because they are stated in such a way that you can put your arms around them and believe them! Your "inner critic" won't jump in and tell you, that's not true.

The year 2008 is going to be a very successful one for me! I'm in the process of and will achieve my ideal weight in 2008! I am grateful that I take all the actions I need to so that I double my income in 2008! I've decided that this is the year that I will be in peak health and fitness!

So now, you've got some traction. You've got a set of New Year's Resolutions that have "legs". So, make your resolutions but be sure to state them in a way that you wholeheartedly BELIEVE them and guess what?

You'll be celebrating your wins in 2008!
