The Search For Prince Charming

Are you still searching for your soul mate of have you found him already?  If you have given up, you shouldn't.  The search for your soul mate begins in your own mind.

All little girls at some time enjoy the fantasy of Cinderella being whisked off her feet by prince charming or at the very least being rescued by a knight in shining armor on a beautiful glossy black stallion. We girls identify with Cinderella's predicament and outcome and hold this dream close to our hearts for many years to come. And dreams, as Freud pointed out, contain an emotional content of wish fulfillment.

We want to meet our prince charming. We want to be swept off our feet and to live happily ever after. We fully expect that this should happen when we grow up, although this belief may be kept secret from those around us. But as we grow up and begin to date, somehow our dreams can become a little tarnished. We learn that our dreams may not have been based upon realism.

Finding the right relationship often involves a learning curve. Some of us are very lucky and meet our prince charming at an early age. I had dinner yesterday with a couple who have been married for 47 years and the lady involved joked that she was a child bride. I'm sure that they have had their "ups and downs" along the way but have worked through them and are extremely happy.

For those who have not been so lucky and are still searching for their prince charming, how do you go about meeting your soul mate? What can you do to attract your soul mate into your life? It certainly helps to have a clear idea of what you are looking for in a mate, including the qualities which are most important to you. It is also important to get back in touch with those dreams, so as to believe that your prince charming really is there.

Don't give up. Do not allow your dreams to disappear. There is a perfect soul mate for you out there, somewhere. You just have to look in the right place and to have the right attitude. If you do not think that your prince is there, you won't even look. Finding your soul mate begins in your own mind; the search begins in making sure that you have the right attitude and expectations.
