The history of the Golden Maharaja is not knows it is believed to have come from South Africa. It is 65.57 carats and classified as a Fancy Dark Orange-Brown in color. It is a modified Pear shape having the crown and pavilion main facets horizontally divided with extra facets. This type of modification to the standard cut is sometimes applied when cutting larger diamonds. It was sold in 2006 for $1,382,400.

Golden Maharaja Diamond

Graff Pink Supreme Diamond

This pink pear shaped diamond is 10.83 carats and is consider internally flawless.  Lawrence Graff of London purchased this diamond in 1993 for 6,163,500 Swiss francs.

Great Chrysanthemum Diamond

The Great Chrysanthemum was found in 1963 in South Africa.  The diamond appeared to be a light honey color but after cutting it proved to be a rich golden brown in color similar to a chrysanthemum after which it was named.  It was cut into a 104.16 carat pear shape and was mounted as the central stone in a necklace of 410 oval and marquise shaped diamonds.

Gruosi Diamond

The Gruosi is the largest heart shaped black diamond in the world.  It took three years to cut this diamond in 1998 from a rough stone weighing 300.12 carats to its current weight of 115.34 carats.  It was originally intended to have the stone cut into an oval shape,World Famous Diamonds 6 Articles but the stone proved to be very difficult to work.  This is not uncommon for black diamonds.  The Grousi heart is the centerpiece of a necklace of smaller black and white diamonds set in white gold.

Heart Of Eternity

The Heart of Eternity is Fancy Vivid Blue in color and weighs 27 carats.

Hope Diamond

The Hope Diamond is more than a billion years old and it is the worlds' largest deep blue diamond at 45.52 carats.  It was first found in Golconda, India in the early 1600s and has had a very checkered pasted ever since.  It has crossed oceans and continents many times, has been owned by Kings and Commoners, has been stolen and recovered, sold and resold, cut and re-cut.  Today blue diamonds are valued for their history as much as their rare color.
