Perhaps one of the most major considerations to take into account when purchasing a mobile phone is just how good the handset looks.  A phone can be laden with the highest specification but if it is not pleasing on the eye then the handset will struggle to be a success.  Conversely if a phone is all looks and no substance the it may suffer the same fate.  It is pleasing therefore that there are smartphones available which perfectly blend great features with cutting edge looks and the Nokia N9 and the Motorola Atrix are two such models. What the Motorola Atrix has in its favour is its incredibly streamlined profile which can be attributed to the slim 10.1mm depth that it boasts.  The handsets is neat looking with curved edges and a nicely textured back panel which not only looks good but feels comfortable in the palm of your hand.  The Nokia N9 takes on a different approach all together and it pays dividends.  The model really does look different from any other mobile phone.  The large display fills the entire fascia thanks to the lack of buttons and the edges of the body are straight and look as though they could cut glass.  When you handle the phone however this stylish and angular design feels comfortable and extremely user friendly.  Yes the N9 does measure a little deeper than the Atrix but it makes up for its extra bulk with a design that you will find hard to better. The Nokia N9 continues to impress when we look at the screens on the two models.  At 3.9 inches the N9 sports an unusual size but one with an extremely high resolution of 480 x 854.  Using the latest AMOLED technology the display recreates colours perfectly and offers great clarity to all manner of material.  In terms of durability the screen is made from Gorilla Glass to make it very resistant to scratches and scuffs.  The display on the Atrix is one of the phones stand out features as it blends a huge 540 x 960 resolution together with a high standard 4 inch TFT screen.  These figure combined offer a great pixels per inch rating of 275 which is nearly 40 more than what the new Nokia can offer.  Like in other comparisons we have done that involve the Nokia N9 the phone does suffer slightly from its lack of a dual core processor.  The 1Ghz chip that is on offer is powerful enough but the phone would benefit from dual cores for multi tasking.  This is exactly what the Atrix offers and even though the processor is the same size the twin cores really benefit the Motorola device. The Nokia N9 and the Motorola Atrix are fairly well matched models with both phones offering impressive processors and high quality screens together with great looks.  The N9 does offer something a little different from others in the shape of the Meego operating system and the stunning design which makes it the phone of choice in this comparison. The Nokia N9 is coming soon and the Motorola Atrix is available now.
