Peru is referred to as “Land of the Incas” as the country was once home to the expansive Incan Empire. Plaza de Armas

Hop on a cheap flight to Lima and explore the main square of the capital city of Peru, Plaza de Armas. Located in the heart of the city’s historic district, the square is home to many 18th century buildings including a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a popular lunch spot with ample of benches and walls for sitting. The square is home to several restaurants and shops along with two Spanish churches; the Church of La Compañía and the Cathedral. Book airline tickets to Lima and check out the highlights of the square such as the Government Palace, Archbishop's Palace and Casa del Oidor.

Machu Picchu

Regarded among the most captivating archaeological sites, Machu Picchu is one of the 7 wonders of the world. The complex is home to many temples, palaces and homes and is believed to have been the center of the Incan civilization. It is believed that it was originally built to serve as a military fortress and was later used as an estate for the Inca Royalty. Referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas,” it was built in the 15th century and was discovered in the year 1911. Machu Picchu is only accessible by foot, train and helicopter.

Nazca Lines

Nestled between the towns of Nazca and Palpa, the Nazca lines are one of the most mysterious sites in the world. Created thousands of years ago, the site features huge animal and geometrical designs that span across an area of approximately 280 square mile. It has also been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Archeology list. Some of the highlight figures include a lizard nearly 600 foot long, a condor with 426 foot wingspan and various other shapes such as a spider, hummingbird, killer whale and monkey.

Sacred Valley

Sacred valley is an ideal spot for exploring the ruins of the Incas. The Valley was the political, spiritual and agricultural center of the Incas. The site is also home to some of the most iconic sites of Peru including Ollantaytambo ruins and the Pisac. The Pisac Ruins and Sunday Market are the other notable attractions of the Valley.

Colca Canyon

Anchored between two volcanoes, Coropuna and Ampato, Colca Canyon is considered twice as deep as the Grand Canyon making it one of the deepest canyons in the world.
